After 12 years, Hummer is finally back, but forget the big diesel engines – this thing is an EV.

That’s right, Hummer is now an all-electric sub-brand of GMC and the EV Pickup is its first model under the new rebrand.

Its gargantuan proportions and its $110,000 price tag (for the sold-out Edition 1 version Supercar Blondie’s Sergi Galiano drove in Los Angeles) certainly fit the bill.

So do its off-road abilities as this thing can do some tricks we’ve not yet seen in a road car.

At the push of a button, the GMC Hummer EV can start to crabwalk, turning its rear wheels the same direction as the fronts.

While this is obviously designed for off-road use to avoid tricky obstacles, it’s a hilarious gag to show off to your mates.

The four-wheel steering system also gives this beast a surprisingly tight turning circle for a vehicle this big.

Powered by three electric motors, the Edition 1’s performance is seriously impressive.

Offering 529 kilometers (329 miles) of range, it’s practical, but with 1000HP (746kW) it’s supercar-fast as well.

CHECK THIS OUT!

Being a Hummer, even its launch control process is a truly American experience.

“What you have is ‘WTF’ mode, but it’s not what you think it means,” Sergi says.

“This is ‘Watts to Freedom’ mode, which is the most American thing I’ve ever heard.”

Pinning the throttle from a standstill, Sergi adds: “It’s faster than a Lamborghini Huracan. I would never in my life have imagined that we’d have an electric Hummer that’s faster than a Lamborghini.”

Some older models of the Huracan go from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.4 seconds.

Despite the insane acceleration, it’s still a work truck at the same time.

With the bed’s multi-step function built into the tailgate, it’s easy to climb into and load.

The GMC Hummer EV also features a massive “frunk” for its removable roof panels, meaning yes, it’s a convertible!

There are even hidden compartments inside the seats.

The sold-out GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 is worth $110,000, but the entry-level EV2 model you can still order starts at $79,990.
