Oldsmobile was once one of the most recognizable names in the American car world.
For most of its existence, it served as a division of General Motors.
One of its most recognized and well-known models was the Cutlass.
And an extremely unique version of the Cutlass has just come up for sale.

Oldsmobile: America’s oldest car brand
Despite being shut down for over 20 years, Oldsmobile still endures as a recognizable name.
The now-defunct firm was founded by Ransom Olds in Lansing, Michigan, in 1897.
Interestingly, Oldsmobile was America’s top-selling car company between 1903-04.
They also made the first ever mass-produced models, too.
The Oldsmobile Model R “Curved Dash” was, in fact, the first auto mass-produced on an assembly line.
That invention is actually wrongly attributed to Henry Ford, who improved the process, but did not invent it.
In 1908, the company became a division of General Motors, who took over manufacturing of the brand.
The 1970s and 1980s saw Oldsmobile reach their peak successes in the American market.

By the mid-1970s, the brand replaced Pontiac and Plymouth as America’s third best-selling brand.
In fact, in 1976, the now-iconic Cutlass became the best-selling car in America.
Unfortunately, the 1990s saw a rapid decline in sales for the brand, mostly owing to import competition.
The brand would ultimately fold in 2004, closing its doors for good.
Custom Cutlass spotted in Ozarks
While the Oldsmobile marque has sadly died, Oldsmobile models continue to thrive.
In fact, one such model is making big news in the car world.
An Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme was a local celebrity in Joplin, Missouri.
However, it’s no ordinary Cutlass.

This 1983 Cutlass Supreme looks like it could be Evel Knievel’s daily driver.
In fact, this bubble-top Cutlass was part of a touring jet truck show quite a few years ago. And yes, jet trucks are the jet-powered machines you’re imagining. And yes, they are awesome.
The car, which now resides in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is listed for sale.
We, of course, love the weird and the wonderful of the car world, and this is no different.
Now all we need to know is whether the jet still works…
