Bugatti is building another one-off hypercar, and this time, it’s for a very special reason.

It will be designed as a tribute to the first Bugatti Veyron – chassis number 001.

The rumored price is over $20,000,000, which already tells you this car is not meant for your average driver.

But that $20 million price tag makes sense when you hear just how special this car will be.

Bugatti is building a new hypercar in 2026

This car is part of Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire, which is about as exclusive as car projects get.

The brand only allows itself to build two of these ultra-bespoke cars per year.

Each one is totally unique and tied to a specific moment in Bugatti history.

The next Solitaire build, expected in 2026, is designed as a tribute to the very first Veyron – chassis number 001.

That matters because the Veyron wasn’t just fast, it was the first road car to casually roll out with 1,000 horsepower and still behave like a normal car on the street.

Before it, numbers like that sounded fake.

This new one-off isn’t a copy-paste remake, but it’s expected to clearly reference the Veyron’s look.

That includes the famous red-and-black two-tone paint job – a color combo that instantly screams ‘early Bugatti’ to anyone who knows cars.

The biggest talking point sits under the hood.

Bugatti is reportedly keeping the quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine alive for this build.

That’s the same engine layout that made the Veyron legendary, and it’s becoming increasingly rare as brands move toward hybrids and EVs.

Power is rumored to be close to 1,600 horsepower, which is still an absurd number no matter how many fast cars exist now.

This isn’t about setting new records or chasing lap times.

It’s about reminding people where all the madness started.

Bugatti is turning its own history into the ultimate collector flex

Step back, and this Veyron tribute starts to make more sense.

Bugatti isn’t just making expensive cars anymore – it’s turning its past into one-of-a-kind collectibles

Programme Solitaire cars are designed to be impossible to repeat.

Once one is built, that chapter is closed forever.

And we’ve seen this playbook before.

Bugatti La Voiture Noire sold for more than $15 million back in 2019, proving that collectors will pay huge money for a car with serious story value.

Newer one-offs like the Brouillard have doubled down on that idea.

For buyers at this level, speed stats don’t really matter anymore, there will always be something faster next year.

What doesn’t get replaced is significance.

By limiting Solitaire to just two cars per year, Bugatti is making sure these builds age like museum pieces – except they’re allowed on the road.

So this Veyron-inspired one-off hypercar isn’t Bugatti being stuck in the past.

It’s Bugatti locking the past in place, polishing it, and selling it as history on wheels.
