Bugatti is aiming to exceed 260mph with its final street-legal supercar, the W16 Mistral with its latest round of testing.

This is going to be a historic moment for the brand.

This supercar is iconic because it’s the first open-top model from Molsheim since 2015 and the last to feature Bugatti’s famous W16 engine.

Bugatti W16 Mistral aims to exceed 260mph in testing

Reaching close to 420km/h might seem like a lot, but with the car’s improved aerodynamics, and the advanced version of the W16 engine, the chances fall on Bugatti’s side.

A specific date for the final high-speed testing isn’t mentioned.

However, Emilio Scervo, CTO of Bugatti Rimac, indicated that the test will be conducted soon.

One thing is certain though – the car will be every collector’s finest possession and instantly become the ultimate roadster.

“We are planning to run the final high-speed test in one of the very few tracks around the world that allow us to run the test in safe conditions,” Emilio Scervo said.

“The moment that we have access to that track, however, achieving the top speed will no longer be a problem,” he further added.

If the W16 Mistral succeeds, that would make it the fastest Roadster in the world, surpassing the track-only Bugatti Bolide.

A test on another W16 supercar

The second prototype of the W16 Mistral has already driven around 32,000 kilometers.

Now these tests were not performed simply on tracks.

Instead, the tests were performed in challenging conditions.

They are aiming to test the car for a total of 40,000 kilometers, more than what most Bugatti cars often reach.

Recently, the first pre-production W16 Mistral was spotted in Molsheim, France, and it looked stunning.

Calling this car, the automaker’s most aerodynamic roadster won’t be an exaggeration.

The production of this incredible beauty is expected to start later this year.
