This DeLorean driver was pulled over by a cop in Hermosa Beach, California.

Thinking he’d be the not-so-proud owner of a ticket, he cautiously stopped the car.

But, the real reason they’d been stopped was much less sinister.

In fact, the cop had rather a special request for the driver that will make your heart soar.

A driver had quite the shock when he was pulled over by cops in Hermosa Beach, California.

The car pulled over by the police was actually a replica of the time machine from Back To The Future.

Let’s face it, Doc Brown’s time machine isn’t the usual hatchback or SUV you seen cruising the California coastline, rocking up to Big Sur, and soaking up the sun.

And it left the cop that pulled it over almost speechless.

The driver was behind the wheel of a DeLorean DMC-12.

And, as you’d expect, the car had quite the impressive exterior and past, having been based on the very car from the Back To The Future movies.

The replica also had a flashing dashboard and came complete with those iconic gull-wing doors, mimicking the machine that allowed Marty McFly and Doc Brown to time travel to the 50s and back again.

In fact, the motor from the movie costs an estimated $6 million to get ship-shape and road safe.

Let’s face it, that is an absolutely wild price.

Recent replicas of the beloved time machine, however, have used a modified baseline actually consisting of a Tesla Model X.

The DeLorean has been around since 1981 and stood the test of time

DMC’S DeLorean was made in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1981 – where they produced 9,000 cars before going bust just a year later.

Despite that, the DMC-12 became a universally loved car by both movie and motor fanatics worldwide.

The stop was a lot less sinister than the driver was anticipating

Although the had driver admitted he’d actually failed to halt at a stop sign, the cop apparently had more important business to discuss.

Thanks to the replica’s look, the cop just fancied having a nose around where the lights, camera and action took place .

He even asked if he could input his birthday into the time machine in the front cabin of the car.

After the ordeal, the driver even offered the cop the DeLorean for a birthday or upcoming event too – all thanks for letting him off without a ticket.

So, a rather wholesome end to a situation that maybe might have ended in disaster if the car wasn’t an iconic replica, eh?
