It’s no secret that Canada has bitter winters, and one man decided to see just how much the weather affected his Tesla Model 3.

With a huge, thick winter coat and a bucket of hope, the driver decided to test how long the cabin of his EV would take to warm up.

With an initial temperature reading that was low enough to make anyone shiver, there was work to be done.

Let’s take a look at how quickly the Tesla managed to get toasty.

This Model 3 was put to the ultimate test

The Tesla Model 3 is one of the EV manufacturer’s most popular cars, and it’s not hard to see why.

First released in 2017 and described as a ‘mid-sized sedan’, the car is often favored for its aerodynamic design and clever high-tech features such as Autopilot and Sentry Mode.

But, how does it really fare in extreme weather conditions?

Well, YouTuber Sask Tech Ideas made the most of Canada’s temperatures to see how long his EV would take to warm up so he could hit the open road without freezing.

With a chill of -29F (-34C) in the outside air, the cabin quite obviously was not going to be warm either.

Using the Tesla app, the cabin temperature initially sat at -11.2 degrees, not exactly an enticing temperature, but let’s see what happened when the technology kicked in.

This is how long the Tesla really took to get toasty

The car took a mere four minutes to heat up, pretty much the same amount of time that a Pop-Tart takes to cook.

“Look at that, by four minutes it got to plus 20, that’s perfect we can go for a drive now,” said the creator as he hopped into the cabin.

You have to admit, it’s really not that bad at all, with many windshields taking longer to de-ice in standard gas-powered cars.

The Tesla took the crown again when it came to warming up.

Why not check out how the cold weather affects its charging, too?
