CarMax has had its say after a US woman took her Tesla Cybertruck EV for an appraisal.

The woman in question, YouTuber EV & Chill, is responsible for this amazing story.

Not actually intending to sell her Cybertruck, she was left amazed at the offer she received.

And CarMax has now responded after her offer went viral.

YouTuber left stunned by Tesla Cybertruck appraisal

Before we get into this, some context is important here.

YouTuber EV & Chill is an automotive content creator who owns a Tesla Cybertruck.

Instead of showing off the vehicle’s prowess or performance, she wanted to test something different.

How well could the Tesla Cybertruck hold its value?

It’s a question that has dogged Cybertruck owners across the world over the last few years.

But the content creator was confident that she could get a respectable offer.

Curious to see how much it would be valued at, the content creator took her Tesla Cybertruck to Carmax for an appraisal after amassing 14,000 miles on the odometer across a year of ownership.

The YouTuber described the truck as being in ‘good condition’, boasting all-wheel drive, with new BFG tires, and a wrap on the exterior.

“Some people say that wraps can hurt a car’s resale value.

“Personally, I think the wrap kind of helps,” she explained.

She drove to her local CarMax site, ready for the outcome – hopefully somewhere in the $57,000-$60,000 range.

The process was quick and simple; but the outcome left the YouTuber speechless.

Following the appraisal, CarMax offered the YouTuber a mighty $66,000.

And this was without even taking it for a test drive.

“I was not expecting that,” she said.

CarMax responds to YouTuber’s experience

It certainly came as a very pleasant shock to us as well.

And now, it appears that CarMax is delighted with how the experience unfolded as well.

Our colleague Grace Donohoe covered the original story.

And CarMax reached out to Grace to convey its delight at the YouTuber’s experience.

“We’re happy to hear this customer was pleased with her appraisal offer!”, the company said.

“At CarMax, we’ve designed our appraisal experience to be simple, transparent, and on your terms.”

The company explained how it strives to provide the fairest offers possible.

“When you visit a store, a CarMax associate reviews your vehicle, and a trained buyer evaluates the details.”

Everything is combined with ‘data and human experience for accuracy and fairness.’

For the most part, people are left very unhappy with appraisal offers.

So it’s brilliant to see somebody left so positively affected by their experience.
