Porsche 911 Dakar

This is the Porsche 911 Dakar, and it is a proper sports car.

At the same time, it is also a go-anywhere, do-anything Dakar-style off-roader.

Porsche literally calls this the 911 Dakar.

So we know they’re taking this very seriously.

At first, we assumed the production version would bear a different name but the company evidently wanted to make things clear.

CHECK THIS OUT!

The idea is you can drive this sports car on tarmac, sand, dirt, gravel, mud.

Anywhere you want.

Because this is a full-blown off-roading machine.

Porsche is not letting anything on in terms of performance and spec.

However, the company said its development team tested the 911 Dakar “under extreme conditions” for over 500,000 km.

Mostly on rough terrain.

This Porsche is powered by an old-fashioned combustion engine, and that means we can expect a flat-six.

Or at least that’s what we’re hoping for.

Then again we just have to wait to find out.

This is because the Porsche 911 Dakar is scheduled to make its public debut on November 16 at this year’s LA Auto Show.

We’re definitely looking forward to it.

About the Dakar Rally

The Dakar Rally is an annual rally raid in the desert.

The original idea was to drive from Paris, France to Dakar, Senegal.

However, for safety reasons, the rally was held in South America from 200 to 2019.

It is now held in Saudi Arabia.

Participants cover between 500 and 600 miles per day, using bikes, cars, trucks and quads.

The Dakar Rally also provided the inspiration for the Extreme-E championship, an international off-road racing series that uses electric SUVs.
