If you change this setting on your iPhone, Siri will be replaced with ChatGPT, and that’ll add some key AI upgrades.
On iOS 26, the 19th and most current version of the iPhone’s iOS operating system, you get the opportunity to switch out Siri.
There’s a bunch of perks that come with this change, as you’ll get faster and more accurate responses.
But the question is – what setting do you need to change to make this transition?

Switching over from Siri to ChatGPT
To some iPhone users, the mere suggestion is tantamount to blasphemy.
The idea of trading out Siri seems outrageous, as the virtual assistant has been a key staple of the iPhone experience for years.
It’s not like Siri is set for retirement anytime either, with Apple paying Google $1 billion a year to get Gemini to power its AI assistant.

But let’s face it – in the world of Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and other chatbots, Siri is looking a little bit yesterday’s news for some users.
So if you’re thinking you’d rather have ChatGPT answer your questions and queries on your iPhone, here’s what you need to do.
Once you have a ChatGPT account set up, access the Apple Intelligence settings on your phone.
From there, head over to the Siri customization menu and find the ChatGPT extension.

Once you’ve enabled the extension, disable the Confirm Request option to allow Siri to access ChatGPT without having to provide manual approval for each query.
From this point on, Siri can effortlessly use ChatGPT.
Enhanced accuracy and improved productivity were among the perks put forward for this move.
Now you know how to do it, will you be making the change?
The rise of the AI Chatbots
Unless you’ve been living under a very large rock – or in an Amish village – you’ll likely have used AI at one point or another in the last few years.
But some people take it beyond the standard question and answer format.

There was one Ohio man who let it control his life for 24 hours.
Heck, one guy experimented with ChatGPT to see if it could land an Airbus A320 in a scenario where both pilots had gone missing.
It’s no wonder that Bill Gates predicted that humans would be working a two-day work week within two years.
Humans may be getting the Siri treatment in due time.
