This guy is apparently considering trading his Chevy Corvette in for a Lucid Air.
These two cars couldn’t be more different.
But there’s a very good reason why he wants to switch.
And it makes sense, even in his home state.
Numbers don’t lie
Statistically, most people who switch to EVs don’t want to go back.
According to the JD Power 2026 US Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study, 96 percent of EV owners wouldn’t go back.
That’s staggering.
That’s nearly 100 percent.
It’s understandable, though.

Depending on where you live, running an EV can be much cheaper than running a gas car, not just because of fuel but also due to lower maintenance costs.
EVs are also generally smoother and faster than gas cars.
There are lots of cons, and most of the pros are subjective – like the engine sound.
Which brings us to this case in point.
Why this guy wants to sell his Corvette and get a Lucid

YouTuber and car dealer EV Auto Alex recently posted a video in which he was talking to a guy who was considering selling his Chevy Corvette for a Lucid Air.
That’s a bit like saying you’re not sure where to go on vacation: snorkeling in the Bahamas or hiking in the Lofoten Islands in Norway.
Those are two completely different things.
The Corvette is an iconic sports car with a V8, the Lucid Air is an electric sedan.
The only thing they have in common is the presence of a steering wheel.

Financially, the deal makes sense
In the video, Alex told the would-be customer that his Chevy Corvette was worth around $52,000.
The Lucid Air he was buying, also pre-owned, was going for $58,900, with 80,000 miles still left on the warranty.
So that’s around $7,000 the Corvette owner would have to fork out.
But the Lucid has a 450-mile range, and based on what we heard in the video, the owner lives in Mississippi.
Now, gas is generally very cheap in Mississippi, cheaper than in most states, in fact.
Even so, over 15,000 miles, the Corvette would still cost him around $2,700 in fuel, whereas the Lucid would only cost $560.
Because energy is also cheap in Mississippi.
But, clearly, this is a ‘lifestyle’ decision.
“I never thought I’d be that guy but…” the would-be Lucid owner said on the phone in the video.
Well, once you go BEV, most people won’t go back.
