The Chevy Silverado EV is a prime example of excellent modern manufacturing, but this one mechanic has been left booking in an early retirement party as he unearthed electrical spaghetti under the Chevrolet hood.

For over a century, mechanics have been mastering the care of a combustion engine.

Combing over every inch of an eight-cylinder steel and titanium warchest, there’s very little that we can’t fix when it a mechanic gets his greased gloves on and goes wrenching.

But the new age of electric engineering is a complete game changer, and even the most-experienced machanics are getting overhwelmed by the guts of a Chevrolet Silverado EV.

Chevy Silverado EV wiring leaves a mechanic wanting a new career

The Car Wizard is an esteemed mechanic and often appears on YouTube getting his mitts under old SUVs.

Previously, he showcased how a $100 fix of a Land Rover took hours to complete, intracately taking the massive car apart.

Whether its a Bugatti or a Ford F-150s, he’s fixed it.

But this new wave of electric manufacturing has pushed even his spell-casting talents to the limit.

In a new upload on the Hoovies Garage channel, titled ‘Tearing apart my Chevy Silverado EV truck made my mechanic want to retire even sooner‘, Car Wizard was stunned by the ‘spaghetti’ that had replaced the engine bay.

Under the hood, a steel brace holds down rivers of wires that run from the ‘groundbreaking’ 12V battery to the Air Conditioning unit, steering wheel, brakes, motors, and more.

“That’s a complicated bowl of spaghetti electric pickup truck. And you can’t get to any of it without removing all this bracing first,” he said, shaking and scracthing his head.

“It is very scary.”

Thankfully, the truck didn’t need any immediate jobs doing, and rather the two discussed having some upgrades made, such as heated seast – he was sure there was enough wiring to allow for that.

Is the Chevrolet truck worth the headache?

While the snake’s honeymoon of a wire management system is a migraine to look at, the Chevy Silverado EV has been praised by many.

Its power has drawn applause from a former Cybertruck owner, while its range has broken all records.

As for whether it’s worth the headache to make and maintain, the duo agreed that it is a phenomenal car.

“It rides really better than any work truck that I’ve ever driven… Just nice, sturdy. Quite a land yacht,” said host Tyler Hoover, which was met by a nod of agreement from the gas-guzzling Gandalf.

“I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now and the more I drive it really the more I like it.”

Its likely that EVs might pose some difficulties in years to come as the cars begin to wear and tear, even this driving Dumbledore is now sold, even if he did contemplate hanging his wand up.
