This man drove a Chinese EV nearly 8,000 miles over a 30-day period – it was an epic journey that spanned 10 countries.

YouTuber Victor Roche was driving from Munich, Germany, to Beijing, China, which is a very ambitious road trip by any measure.

His car of choice was a Deepal S05, and his travels would take him to various regions from Austria to Turkey to Kazakhstan.

There was a lot of ground to cover – literally – so how did the trip go?

How did the Deepal S05 do on this 8,000-mile road trip?

When it came time to decide on a route, two choices lay ahead for Roche – either driving through Iran or Russia.

Given the geopolitical situation, he opted for Russia.

It took around five hours to get from Georgia to Russia.

The first portion of the trip was marred by GPS restrictions, frequent checkpoints, and difficulty accessing money due to failed Chinese credit card compatibility.

When he reached the Kazakhstan border, one team member’s passport was rejected at first, resulting in a phone inspection.

Fortunately, the officials let them through without any further issues.

Things got a lot less tense in Kazakhstan, where the landscapes and openness dazzled them.

Roche hoped that his video would inspire others to take big road trips and visit places that they may not have visited before.

But it goes without saying that people should take precautions and do their research before taking on an international road trip.

Some say that having a Chinese EV is the way of the future

If you spend any time reading about cars online, you’ll have no doubt heard a lot of hype and fanfare about Chinese EVs.

One woman who got to test drive a Chinese EV out in New Jersey said it left her never wanting to buy American again.

Over in Europe, there’s an even bigger appetite for Chinese-made EVs, as brands like BYD rise at a meteoric rate.

And that’s not forgetting Xiaomi, a brand that’s even favored by Ford CEO Jim Farley.

Maybe these cars really are what the future of EVs will look like.

And what better way to show off their capabilities than taking them on a continent-spanning road trip?
