Robots are slowly taking over the technology industry, and soon you could even have your own Chinese robot dog.
All eyes are on Chinese company Pudu and its new D5 robot dog after it showed just what it’s made of.
From climbing stairs to impressive all-weather adaptability, this robot dog could be one for the books.
In fact, with speeds of over 11mph, this could give a real dog a run for its money.

Meet the D5 Chinese robot dog
Who let the dogs out? Pudu Robotics, it seems.
The Chinese company has released brand new footage of its D5 climbing stairs with ease, at an impressive speed, and it turns out there is a whole host of clever engineering beneath the robotic shell.

The D5 is cleverly brought to life via a dual processor consisting of NVIDIA Orin and RK3588, which enables the robot dog to carry out tasks with ease.
In fact, the D5 robot can even map out and explore areas up to one million square meters, thanks to four fisheye cameras and dual 192-line LiDAR sensors.
The most impressive element, though, is the way that the Chinese robot dog can move, reaching climbing speeds of 1.5 m/s and 5m/s (11mph) on flat surfaces.

The D5 can also be used in miscellaneous environments, thanks to its cold starts, enabling it to operate from -20°C, plus it can also be used in 55°C weather too.
This means it can tackle rain and snow, like an actual living dog, as well as having a battery capacity of 100kWh and a maximum payload of 30kg.
There are two configurations available of the robot dog
The company has really covered all bases and confirmed in a press release that two versions of the D5 are available.
The D5, which you can watch in action at the top of the page, is a legged robot dog that was manufactured to reach ‘maximum terrain adaptibility’.
“The D5 successfully brings advanced autonomy, rugged mobility, and intelligent interaction into the complex outdoor and industry-grade scenarios,” Pudu Robotics Founder and CEO Felix Zhang said.
The D5-W, however, has wheels and was made to operate on mixed surfaces instead.
“For Pudu, the D5 is not merely a new product, but a milestone in our mission to push robots deeper into more applications,” Zhang continued.
We’re certainly excited about the possibilities this could bring to many industries, that’s for sure, and you can catch the stair climbing action at the very top of this page.
