Exciting news, hypercar fans – Koenigsegg founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg has confirmed the marque is working on two new hypercar projects.

The Swedish carmaker is known for making high-performance vehicles in low production numbers.

And now, the CEO has revealed it’s working on a couple of new cars as well as some ‘very cool ideas’ that haven’t been done before.

Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it?

Christian von Koenigsegg has said the marque has some ‘cool’ projects

When it comes to high-performance vehicles, Koenigsegg barely needs an introduction.

The Koenigsegg Gemera is the world’s most powerful production car, with almost twice as much power as the Bugatti Veyron, while the world-record breaking Jesko delivers up to 1,600 horsepower on E85 fuel.

So gearheads should be delighted to learn that CEO Christian von Koenigsegg has now confirmed the marque is working on an upcoming homage project, a new mid-engine car, and some other interesting bits he doesn’t think we’ve seen before.

“So we have another cool homage project we’re doing that we will be presenting next year,” he recently told Car Buzz.

“And then after that, we have a new platform, a mid-engine car coming out… probably [the] end of next year.”

And if that doesn’t have you excited enough, he’s also teased some interesting-sounding, secretive plans.

When asked what the next wild idea from Koenigsegg might be, he cryptically replied that car lovers would need to wait and see.

“We have some very cool ideas for our upcoming audience,” he added.

I’m so excited for it. But when you see it, it’s like, of course, ‘Why did no one do that before?’

“And so we have a few – four or five – of those. This should have been done, and we’re doing it.”

Unfortunately, he didn’t share any further details, so it seems it’s going to be a case of watch this space.

The marque is currently working on the Sadair’s Spear

While we may have a while to wait until we get our first glimpse of the new projects Christian van Koenigsegg recently teased, we’ve already had a chance to look at the marque’s latest hypercar.

Unveiled in June, the Sadair’s Spear is based on the Koenigsegg Jesko, but it is even more extreme.

If you’re struggling to imagine such a thing, let us tell you that it packs an incredible 1,300 horsepower on regular fuel or 1,625 horsepower on E85.

Not only that, but the carmaker has managed to trim away 35 kilograms off the already-pretty lightweight Jesko, meaning you get more horsepower for each kilo of weight.

The  Sadair’s Spear will be produced as a limited run of just 30 cars, but if you were hoping to get your hands on one, we’re sorry to say they’ve all sold out.
