Classic Cadillac show car was so ahead of its time it'd be the star of Californian streets now

This classic Cadillac show car was totally ahead of its time and would be a big hit on Californian streets today.

A 1999 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe has made its way onto the used car market, and it’s held up brilliantly.

It might not be shining gold like the mythical city it was named after, but it’s still a sight to behold.

Was this General Motors custom ahead of its time?

This classic Cadillac car that was ahead of its time

It’s a weird thing to be ahead of your time and not realize it.

Several cars have fallen into this trend over the years.

There was the supercar from A Clockwork Orange, the 1986 Oldsmobile Incas, and the Bugatti Veyron Barchetta.

All of these cars differed, but they had one thing in common – they were unconventional for their time and pushed boundaries.

Even cars that never went beyond the concept stage were groundbreaking in their own way, like the Toyota crab-walking hydrogen vehicle.

And the 1999 Cadillac Eldorado Touring Coupe joins those lofty ranks.

As the name indicates, this car was commissioned at the turn of the millennium by General Motors.

Huntington Beach-based California Street Rods were chosen to complete the build.

However, the Eldorado custom was sold off when GM went bankrupt during the 2000s.

But now it’s ended up on car sale site Bring A Trailer.

Taking a closer look at this striking one-of-a-kind car

The stats attached to this car are impressive – 275HP and 300LB-FT of torque.

But it’s really in the look that this car makes it mark.

The car has sleek and shiny exterior, and its stainless steel wheels are so clear you could do your makeup in them.

There’s something about the car that makes it feel like its not a product of its time.

But if you were asked to pin this car’s vibe on a time period, you’d struggle.

It’s almost like an amalgamation of all the different eras of cars.

And we love that.

It sold for $55,000 on April 16, and we can’t help but wonder who the lucky buyer was.

But whoever they were, we hope they’re taking this car out and giving it the audience it deserves.
