Shakira has revealed why she’s happy to give away her purple Lamborghini Urus.

Last week, the Hips Don’t Lie singer took to Instagram to announce she would be giving away the Lamborghini to one of her fans.

As well as having a famous owner, the matte-purple Urus is a bit of a celebrity in its own right.

The car appeared in the video for Shakira’s song ‘Soltera’ – meaning ‘single woman’ in English – which has racked up more than 80 million views on YouTube.

Shakira announced she is giving away her Lamborghini Urus

Shakira first spoke of giving away the car in a clip shared to Instagram on November 13.

In the video, she could be seen sitting inside the car talking to fellow Colombian singer Sebastian Yatra, who described the Lamborghini Urus as ‘super cool’.

In response, the singer said she ‘designed it’ before revealing her interesting plans for the car.

“You know what? I’ll give it away – I’ll give it to a fan, someone who is happy in the car,” she said.

At the time it was unclear if the offer was legit, but just under a week later she shared details of the giveaway on Instagram confirming it was the real deal.

She’s expanded on why she’s happy to pass the car on

The Colombian singer has shared why she’s decided to give the car away after initially buying it for herself as she started a new chapter following her highly publicized split from soccer star Gerard Pique in 2022.

“This custom purple Lamborghini car was a gift to myself as I began my single life,” she said in a statement to Yahoo

“But I realized that what truly matters is human connection.

“The car, the clothes, the material things — they don’t transform us. It’s the people we love and the connections we build that truly make a difference.”

Pretty profound – but if you’ve read all that and are thinking you’d still like to get your hands on the Lamborghini Urus then Shakira has a challenge for you.

First, head to elcarrodeshakira.com and sign up to enter the competition.

Then, record a video of yourself performing the ‘Soltera’ dance and share the vid on Instagram Reels or TikTok with the hashtag #ElCarroDeShakira.

Shakira and her team will then select five finalists, with the winner chosen via public vote on the Despierta America TV show on December 6.

To enter you’ll need to be 18 or over, a US resident, and able to collect the Urus from Miami between December 10 and December 23.
