Couple spent 10 years building two huge homemade yachts in their backyard

  • It took them about ten years to complete both of them

Buckle up, because this might just be the most inspiring thing you read today — a couple built not one but two homemade yachts — a wooden and a steel yacht — in their backyard over the course of a decade.

As far as yachts go, you don’t get to see someone building one, let alone two, in their backyards every day.

The two sailing yacht models were massive, too — with one 38ft wooden vessel followed by a 46ft one made from steel.

Couple built two yachts in their backyard

The husband-wife duo — namely Vita and Hena — call themselves yachtsmen and documented their entire journey of building two sea vessels from scratch.

They also made a pretty-looking video and posted it on YouTube for all of us to get inspired.

Each of these very large boats took around five years to complete, marking almost a decade for the two.

It showed how they began their journey with the mere concept of a wooden yacht and how it finally came off the pages.

The duo worked on each part and assembled it step by step, making some progress every day.

After all, two people working on something like this can certainly be a lengthy task.

After half a decade, the wooden yacht called ‘Galaxy’ was finally ready and put in the water using a crane.

It surely must have been a moment of immense satisfaction, but unfortunately, it didn’t last long.

Onto the next one

Because of financial troubles, the couple had to sell the wooden boat, so their time with it was cut short.

However, the duo never faltered and began working on an even bigger and sturdier model in no time.

Although their first project seemed doable, making something as huge as a yacht out of steel isn’t exactly that easy in a backyard.

That is why the couple got the vessel’s barebones and frame built in a workshop and transported it to the back of their home to finish it off.

Moreover, the finished model looked like it came straight out of a manufacturer’s factory and was quite appealing.

It might not have been as massive as this 394-foot superyacht, but this was a passion project.

Most of us would never attempt to spend a great deal of time and resources on such projects, but everything can be done if you’re willing enough.
