Cristiano Ronaldo owns a one-of-a-kind Bugatti watch that looks like it has been made out of one of his hypercars.

The Portuguese superstar was recently spotted wearing a one-of-a-kind Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon made from striking orange sapphire crystal.

It features a miniature W16 engine complete with moving pistons, alongside a flying tourbillon and a seriously complicated mechanical movement.

And with an eye-watering price tag, it is easily one of the nicest watches in Ronaldo’s collection.

The watch is basically a Bugatti for your wrist

The Jacob & Co. Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon watch was designed to bring the look and mechanical drama of the Chiron to the wrist, and Ronaldo’s example takes that idea to another level.

And it’s extra special because Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to the most luxurious watches in the world.

Its case measures 57.8mm by 44.4mm and is 21.5mm thick, making it seriously chunky even by luxury-watch standards.

The entire thing is made from orange sapphire crystal, with 18-karat rose gold details helping to finish off the hypercar-inspired design.

The transparent case is there for a reason, too.

Inside is Jacob & Co.’s hand-wound JCAM37 movement, which contains 578 components and offers a 60-hour power reserve.

The design also incorporates details inspired by the Chiron, including a power-reserve indicator styled like a fuel gauge and a tourbillon carriage inspired by a radiator.

Jacob & Co. and Bugatti have been working together since 2019, creating watches that combine the worlds of extreme automotive design and high-end mechanical watchmaking; they’re creating the hypercars of watches.

It has its own tiny W16 engine

The real party trick is sitting right in the middle of the watch.

Press the button and the miniature W16 engine comes alive, with its 16 tiny pistons moving up and down for around 15 seconds.

The mechanism is designed to mimic the architecture and movement of the Chiron’s enormous 16-cylinder engine, turning the watch into something closer to a mechanical sculpture than a conventional timepiece.

There is also a one-minute flying tourbillon inclined at 30 degrees, adding another spectacular moving element to an already extremely complicated watch.

The result is a tiny mechanical engine that actually has nothing to do with making the car move, but is arguably just as entertaining to watch, and then there is the price.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s orange-sapphire example has been reported at $1.65 million and is described as a piece unique – meaning this particular version was made as a one-off.

Recent sightings show Ronaldo wearing it during Portugal’s latest international fixtures.

Ronaldo, Portugal’s longtime captain, suddenly left the national team’s training camp last week after a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus over his playing time.

It makes perfect sense for Cristiano Ronaldo because of his garage

The watch is particularly fitting for Ronaldo because his relationship with Bugatti goes well beyond wearing the brand on his wrist.

Bugatti invited Ronaldo to test the Chiron before customer deliveries began in 2017, with the footballer getting behind the wheel of the 1,500-horsepower hypercar in Madrid.

He subsequently became known for owning a Chiron of his own, alongside a Bugatti Veyron.

Ronaldo has also been photographed with some seriously expensive hypercars over the years, including a Ferrari 599 GTO, McLaren Senna, Lamborghini Aventador and other high-performance machines.

His Bugatti collection has arguably been the standout, with the Chiron joined by the much rarer Centodieci, and his relationship with Jacob & Co. is almost as long-running.

Jacob & Co. says founder Jacob Arabo and Ronaldo have known each other for around 20 years, with the relationship eventually developing into the CR7-branded watch collection launched in 2022.

So while most people might match their watch to their outfit, Ronaldo has effectively matched his to his hypercars.

It’s all incredibly luxurious.
