Dario Franchitti is one of the best open-wheel race car drivers of his generation.

The Scottish star won four IndyCar Championship titles across the course of a glittering career.

Given his exceptional career, Franchitti has a garage to rival any gearhead in the world.

And, despite owning a custom Rolls-Royce Wraith, there is one supercar that still gives him chills.

Scottish star gets start in go-karts

Like many future racing stars, Dario Franchitti got his start on something a little…smaller.

After winning several championships in various karting series, Franchitti began to rise through the ranks.

The 1990s would see the Scot compete in the German DTM series, as well as various car championships.

2002 would see Dario Franchitti make his debut in the Indy Racing League, America’s open-wheel racing series.

Five year later, Franchitti would win the first of four IndyCar championships with the AGR team.

Sadly, 2013 would see the Scot’s career cut short – two spinal injuries from a horror accident in Houston.

Outside of his three championships, Franchitti remains one of a select few to win the Indianapolis 500 multiple times.

In fact, the Scot is only one of 10 drivers to win the event three or more times.

Dario Franchitti has an insane garage

Perhaps to the surprise of nobody, Franchitti has an absolutely insane garage at home.

The first thing that stands out is the extraordinary neatness of it all – everything is perfectly in place.

What is particularly cool is that Dario’s office directly stares in at his incredible garage.

Among his extremely cool helmet collection, he also has one of the first drawings of Gordon Murray’s T.50.

The diamond in the crown of the Franchitti collection is, without doubt, the Ferrari F40.

Dario bought the legendary supercar in 1999 when he was just 25 years old.

On The Late Brake Show, Dario explained to host Jonny Smith that:

“Every time I get in it and I drive it somewhat spiritedly, I don’t get out without a little shake. It’s still that much of an animal.”

Remainder of the garage is equally as cool

Aside from having the holy grail of supercars, Dario Franchitti’s collection is as good as it gets.

The Scot recently bought a Rolls-Royce Wraith Shooting Brake built by Niels van Roij design.

The motorsport legend also casually displays the truly brilliant Porsche Carrera GT that he owns.

One of our favourite cars is his Lancia Delta Integrale.

What’s even better about this car is that Franchitti has kept it mostly stock from Lancia.

The Scottish star explained that his penchant for red cars comes from his dad, who’s Porsche 930 was Guards Red.

Years later, Franchitti bought his Dad’s car back at auction and gave it back to him.

We, of course, applaud Dario Franchitti and his incredible career – as well as his exceptional garage.
