Donkervoort has never built cars for the faint-hearted, and the new P24 RS isn’t about to change that.

This is the brand’s latest lightweight weapon, and it replaces the already-bonkers F22 with something even more extreme.

It’s faster, lighter, and louder in attitude, even if a few modern comforts have quietly crept in.

Yes, this model can be ordered with ABS. Try not to faint.

The new Donkervoort that’s still allergic to comfort

At its heart, the P24 RS sticks to what Donkervoort does best: keep things as light and raw as possible.

Dry weight is just 1,719lb, which is barely more than a large motorcycle with doors.

That comes from a heavy use of carbon fiber and a total refusal to add anything that doesn’t help it go faster or corner harder.

The biggest change is under the hood.

Instead of the Audi five-cylinder used in older models, the P24 RS runs a Ford twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6.

It’s the same engine family used in the Ford GT and Raptor, and it comes in three power levels: 400 horsepower, 500 horsepower, or a very spicy 600 horsepower.

In the top version, torque hits 590lb-ft, which is a huge number when you remember how little this car weighs.

The manufacturer says that gives the P24 RS a wild 770 horsepower-per-tonne power-to-weight ratio.

Translation: it’s going to feel unreasonably fast.

Power goes to the rear wheels only, through a five-speed manual gearbox.

No paddles, no automatics, no shortcuts.

There is rev-matching to help you sound cool on downshifts, but the rest is on you.

Suspension comes from adjustable Tractive dampers, brakes are from AP Racing, and the car rides on sticky Nankang tires.

Donkervoort claims up to 2.3G in corners, which is the kind of number that makes your neck muscles file a complaint.

Why this hardcore car suddenly offers ABS and power steering

Here’s the twist: for the first time, Donkervoort is offering optional ABS and power steering.

Not standard.

Optional.

That means buyers can still order the P24 RS with zero electronic safety nets if they want the full, old-school experience.

But for those who plan to drive it on real roads, in the real world, the option is there.

Inside, things stay brutally simple.

Carbon fiber everywhere, a small digital display, and no built-in infotainment.

If you want music or maps, you bring your own phone or use the included iPad Mini mount.

Only 150 P24 RS models will be built, starting at around $325,000, and more than 50 are already sold.

The P24 RS doesn’t try to be friendly.

It just lets you decide how brave you’re feeling.
