Some of these will have you reaching for an imaginary brake pedal

While learner drivers may be the last thing you want to see when you’re on the road – everybody has to start somewhere.

Whether you look back on your ‘L’ plate days fondly, or otherwise or, like most of us, don’t remember them at all – Aman from Clearview Driving who has 273K followers on Instagram and 368K YouTube subscribers wants to jog your memory on the rules of the road.

The often fully-booked and fully approved driving instructor based in West London has been teaching behind-the-wheel novices since 2012 and started a YouTube account two years ago to ‘help anyone learning to drive or to improve their driving skills’.

See some of her pupils *interesting* driving in the video below:

The video of her pupils’ greatest hits and near misses opens with Aman hurriedly grabbing the wheel to avoid a near miss as her pupil unwittingly squeezes between a parked car and moving lorry on a narrow street.

Cut to harsh braking at zebra crossings, missed red lights leading to near-miss of a rear-end collision and impatient, experienced drivers losing their rag and overtaking – almost colliding with cars coming in the opposite direction – yikes.

While most of the mistakes lay at the door of the learner drivers telling them: ” Don’t do that,” , Aman is quick to point out when it is in fact ‘not their fault at all’.

The video documents how, with zero regard for her own vertebrae, she ‘prepares her students for all emergencies’ – and their emergency stops can be pretty intense – especially in slow mo.

What’s more her teachings on the rules of the road – can act as reminders for all drivers on what they should be doing in the drivers seat – including reminding celebrity driver, AJ Pritchard, to check his blindspots and not just his mirrors after a test manouvre.

Her encouraging teaching style helps relax anxious drivers – reminding some that they need to ‘breathe’ in transit, while having a laugh with others ‘when it’s safe to do so’ – but crucially she’s there to remind drivers when and when not to do things.

Reaction to the video saw some saying her lessons are like an ASMR approach to getting rid of your L-plates: “I love her videos. She’s so calm when instructing,” said one.

Another confirmed that staying that calm from the passenger seat isn’t easy: “I used to be a driving instructor as well and man… it is scary at times.”

A third says she learnt a lot from Aman just from watching the videos: “She’s amazing. I’ve watched her while preparing for my test.”

All Supercar Blondie contributors undergo editorial review and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and authority in automotive journalism. After gaining her BA Hons in French and English at the University of Nottingham, Amelia embarked on a vocational diploma from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). This led to numerous opportunities, from interning at Vogue to being on the small team that launched Women’s Health magazine in the UK, which was named the PPA Consumer magazine of the year for three years running. As Health, Beauty and Fitness editor, Amelia personally received a Johnson & Johnson Award and was shortlisted for both PPA and BSME titles. Since then, Amelia has created content for numerous titles and brands, including the Telegraph, 111 Skin, Waitrose, Red magazine, Stylist, and Elle, as well as being Head of Content at Vitality and Editor in Chief at INLondon magazine. “My superpower is translating technical jargon about the mechanical workings of a supercar into a relatable story you’ll want to share with your friends after you’ve read it.” After joining the SB Media family as a senior journalist in September of 2023, Amelia’s role has evolved to see her heading up the SEO output of the editorial team. From researching the most ‘Google-able’ key terms to producing evergreen content - it’s been a time of hard work, growth, and success for the editorial team and the Supercar Blondie website. “I like to think of myself as a ‘method journalist’. In other words: I live and breathe whatever I am writing about. When writing about fitness, I trained as a personal trainer, and as a beauty editor, I completed an ‘expert’ in scent diploma with the Fragrance Foundation. “During my tenure at Supercar Blondie, however, I did something I never thought possible: I passed my driving test at the age of 36. One day I’d love to train as a mechanic to better understand what happens under the hood, too. “My sweet spot is providing readers with a ‘takeaway’ (read: something new they didn’t know before) after reading every one of my stories. While I don’t claim to be an expert in the automotive world, I know the experts and bodies in the field to rely on to provide our readers with an informative and thought-provoking story every time they visit the site.”
