Dubai is going all-in by building the world’s first street to be made of gold as it expands its Gold District.

Never afraid to flex wealth and showcase technology, the most populous city in the UAE has announced plans to launch ‘Gold Street’.

It hopes that the new street will be a popular destination for locals and tourists.

The street will be a core part of the district and showcase the city’s position as a center for the jewellery trade.

What to expect from Dubai’s Gold Street

Dubai wants to continue to flex its financial muscle with the new street.

The ultimate aim is for it to form a central part of the Gold District and, ultimately, become the centerpiece.

In the street, there will be various elements including retail, tech, bullion trading, and various wholesale activities.

All of these will be brought under one huge hub.

The UAE wants to strengthen its position as a hub for the global gold and jewellery trade.

In total, there will be more than 1,000 retailers across the street, including jewellery, cosmetics, perfume, and lifestyle.

In other words, it would be a very expensive shopping trip if you were on this street.

Expanding on the Dubai’s Gold District

The district itself is already home to 1,000 retailers.

Dubai hopes the street will also attract tourists to the area, expanding the district further.

Currently, the city is keeping some of the details under wraps, but the Dubai Media Office says more information will be revealed in phases.

Gold is a huge export for Dubai and the greater UAE.

In 2024-2025, the country exported around $53.4 billion worth of the material to India, the UK, and Switzerland, among others.

The district itself is located next to Gold Souk, one of the oldest traditional markets in Dubai.

This too sells jewellery, as well as high-end ornaments.

Gold Street is just one of many ambitious projects coming to Dubai.

The emirate will soon be home to Bugatti’s first residences, and just like Gold Street, it’s set to stand out.
