Elon Musk is back with more details about his ambitious proposition to take humanity to Mars, and this time he has suggested a Mars travel plan that many people could afford.

In fact, the SpaceX CEO revealed that a single ticket to Mars could even cost as little as $100,000.

He believes that ‘almost anyone’ will be able to afford a ticket to Mars travel if they follow his plan.

The Tesla CEO’s desire to reach Mars is not exactly a new thing.

As a matter of fact, he recently said that he and SpaceX were mapping out a plan to reach Mars only last month.

But why is there a need for Mars travel?

Mars might well seem an ideal destination for space exploration, but that assumption predominantly comes from sci-fi movies and isn’t necessarily how the actual scientists see it.

Only recently, new research declared Mars an unsafe place to live for humans.

So, what is Musk’s plan all about?

The $100,000 price tag for Mars travel – as proposed by Musk – aims to make the trip economically feasible for most people who want to go to the planet, whenever it is possible.

He sees a future where people could save up or sell their assets to buy a ticket and finance their trip.

Also, let’s not forget that he also wants a million people to go to Mars by 2029.

We’ll not hold our breath on that claim, though.

Of course, $100,000 is a lot of money for most people, and way more than the average wage in the USA, but Musk is adamant that his Mars fee will be within the reach of those who save up.

“If moving to Mars costs are, for argument’s sake, $100,000, then I think you know, almost anyone can work and save up and eventually have $100,000 and be able to go to Mars if they want,” Musk said.

He added, “We want to make it available to anyone who wants to go.”

If Mars travel ever becomes possible, it’s safe to say that Elon Musk will use SpaceX’s Starship for the mission.

After all, he predicted that a future Starship would fly beyond our solar system.

Elon Musk has plans for Mars travel that are unquestionably ambitious, but seeing if they come through will be interesting.
