In a bid to alleviate the biggest anxiety around electric vehicles, CATL claims to have created a new EV battery that boasts over one million miles of ultra-fast charging capabilities.
Charging times go hand-in-hand with EVs.
Switching from petrol cars to electric, the change in habit from just filling your tank and driving off to charging for hours is a hard adjustment.
So in steps ultra-fast charging to get you juiced up as quickly as possible, and CATL is hot on making their EV battery capable of holding as many miles as possible without degrading like its competitors.

Revolutionary new EV Battery could be the solution to long charging times
EV battery suppliers are all chasing the goal of taking down on charging times, as it remains one of the biggest holdbacks for people to make the switch to electrification.
As the world’s leading brand in this department, reports claim that the Chinese company CATL has created a 5C power unit that will be able to use ultra-fast charging facilities for over 3,000 full charges in normal temperatures.
With a current theoretical range of 372 miles on a full charge, this equates to around 1.12 million miles.
Even if you’re putting 372 miles on the clock every single day, you’ll be getting ultra-fast speed for five years.
But most importantly, getting to this point will only degrade the battery by a minimal amount.

CATL claims that after the 1.12 million miles of ultra-fast charging, the maximum battery capacity will still be above 80 percent, and claims that this is six times better than anything else on the market.
In extreme heat, the mileage will reduce, though.
The company claims that in the ‘Dubai summer heat’ – 140°F / 60°C – the same degradation will be achieved after 522,000 miles, which is still wild considering many cars will never see the six-figure mark.

Why CATL is shocking the world with its new power units
CATL has showcased a number of game-changing EV battery technology advancements in the last year alone, with its new sodium-based formula having a life span of ‘decades’.
If the one million miles of ultra-fast charging were impressive, the brand also claims that its EV battery can be optimized to last 3.6 million miles.
The company also proposes that its battery packs can be swapped out, which completely eradicates the charging times and allows EVs to swoop in and out of gas stations with a renewed mileage count.

The company does face stiff competition from solid-state batteries when it comes to worldwide adoption, though, with larger ranges and speedy charging times being achieved by this rival.
But it’s safe to say that the future of EV battery tech is in safe hands as we hunt for a greener industry.
