An Australian coal miner had an awesome reaction to getting behind the wheel of a Tesla EV for the first time.

‘EV advocate’ Daniel Bleakley launched a series of YouTube videos in which he took coal miners out in electric vehicles to see how they responded.

In one clip, a miner named Cody was given a spin in a Tesla.

And it’s safe to say he was pretty impressed by the whole thing.

It was the coal miners first time in an EV

Electric vehicles like Teslas have enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years.

Many motorists who have made the switch from gas-powered cars to electric vehicles have been quick to praise the cost savings, while others are pleased to be doing their bit for the planet.

Australian engineer and ‘EV and clean tech advocate’ Daniel Bleakley launched a neat web series in which he attempted to prove that anyone – even those who work in fossil fuels – could be won over by electric cars.

The series, titled Coal Miners Driving Teslas, involved… well, coal miners driving Teslas.

And in the third episode, coal miner Cody got his first chance to hop behind the wheel of a Tesla, and it’s safe to say he was impressed.

Wearing a high-visibility jacket, Cody can be seen in the driving seat with a huge smile on his face.

The miner was left impressed by the Tesla

Cody told Bleakley that he hadn’t driven an all-electric before, and seemed to be particularly impressed by how quiet the engine was compared to a gas-powered vehicle.

He was then given a chance to open the car up on a quiet road and appeared to be absolutely delighted.

“Wow,” Cody said before dropping an F-bomb.

Cody went on to say that he’d hardly even had to put his foot down and admitted that he was a little trepidatious about giving it ‘too much’.

As the car slowed down, Cody said it felt ‘weird’ not having to change gears to get the Tesla hitting some impressive speeds.

Overall, it looked as though Cody could very well be a new EV convert.
