This man was pretty excited when he saw a free boat on Facebook Marketplace, but he was even more excited when the boat turned out to be a full-sized yacht.
While it looked like a banger bargain, the free yacht came with a bunch of problems.
The vessel had been sitting in one place for 15 years, so it wasn’t exactly in pristine condition.
Despite that, this keen buyer jumped at the opportunity and decided to restore the yacht to sailing condition.

Man hunting for a boat gets a free yacht
One of the hosts from the YouTube channel Rebuild Rescue saw a Facebook Marketplace ad for an abandoned boat.
In a video he posted, he said its owner said that whoever could get there first could take it away for free.
That’s when the YouTuber started driving and got a fairly large trailer so he could take the boat back home.
Now, it already looked like a massive sailboat, so he did right on his part by getting the biggest trailer he could find.
Little did he know it was a full-fledged yacht.
Upon arriving at its location — which was a boatyard — he wasn’t sure if the vessel would fit on that trailer.
If you wonder why someone would abandon a yacht like this one, you’d be surprised by how many of these exist.
Only recently, a few explorers found a luxury yacht rotting away in a boat graveyard.
Anyway, the YouTuber hopped inside to inspect its condition.
Getting it sailing again would be a task
15 years is a long time, and it did damage to the interior as well as some parts inside the engine bay.
Without getting into the specifics, this yacht demanded quite a lot of work in order to be functional again.
However, you can restore almost anything these days, and it all seemed doable.
It also wouldn’t be the first time someone rescued an abandoned boat and made it habitable.
A couple in Alaska bought an abandoned superyacht and converted it into their home.
Another couple even built a superyacht from scratch in their backyard, so restoring one seems all the more possible.
It will certainly take a good chunk of time and resources, but we’re keen to see the result.
