Ferrari is notorious for having an infamous blacklist.

The Maranello brand is notorious for protecting its stellar reputation.

To that end, it famously utilizes a blacklist where you can be permanently banned.

Ferrari operates a notorious blacklist

Ferrari is arguably the world’s most iconic supercar brand.

The Italian marque is legendary for almost every possible reason.

From motorsport to its very logo, Ferrari is the biggest brand on four wheels.

Because of its legacy, Ferrari takes its reputation very, very seriously.

So seriously, in fact, that it actually has a notorious practice – its infamous blacklist.

At this point, you might be wondering what this actually is.

The blacklist is exactly what you might be imagining – it is a list of people, mostly celebrities, who are banned from buying cars from Ferrari.

One thing that’s important to note is that Ferrari can’t physically stop people from buying its cars.

Vehicles can still be bought under someone else’s name or bought privately.

But what Ferrari can do is absolutely refuse to sell limited-edition models to people on the blacklist.

When it comes to iconic models, such as the Daytona SP3, the brand uses a very strict selection process.

So if you’re on the brand’s blacklist, then you’re pretty much ruled out almost immediately.

Okay – so you now know what the list is.

But how do you actually get on it?

How to land yourself in trouble with Maranello

Well, it turns out that there are actually a few ways you can land yourself on Ferrari’s bad side.

The first way to get blacklisted is to write negatively about the brand or its cars.

A few motoring journalists have fallen foul of the Italian marque for this over the years.

The next reason is technically two reasons rolled into one.

And that’s if you quickly sell your cars or use them for unauthorized marketing.

Nothing will get you blacklisted faster than flipping Ferrari models for a quick buck.

Several celebrities have famously discovered this the hard way over the years, and they are reportedly still blacklisted to this day.

A famous German shoe designer also used his car to do some unauthorized marketing.

He used his purchase to promote a pair of color-matching shoes and was then sued by Ferrari for doing so – and Maranello won.

Last up, there is a rule about customization of your purchase.

This is probably the most well-known way to fall out of favor.

Several famous people have been on the blacklist for getting crazy modifications done to their Ferraris.

That’s not to say that you actually can’t perform modifications, but they have to be approved by the head office in Maranello first.

So, there you have it – this is how to get permanently banned from buying cars from Ferrari.
