At long last, the price for the Ferrari Luce EV has been revealed – and it’s safe to say that it’s left many people surprised.

Various elements of this upcoming car have left people divided, whether it’s the design or its status as Ferrari’s first electric car.

And now that the price has been confirmed, the discourse has started up all over again.

The only question is whether this price reveal was surprising for a good or a bad reason.

There’s been no shortage of controversy surrounding the Ferrari Luce EV

Ever since the Ferrari Luce EV was announced, it feels like everyone has been chipping in their with their two cents.

Jay Leno was asked for his view on it, as was Lamborghini’s CEO.

There was no getting away from the fact that this Ferrari was the company’s most contentious yet.

One Ferrari executive even went so far as to say he was ‘very pleased’ by some of the negative reception.

“Being a marketing director, I was very pleased,” Emanuele Carando, the brand’s Global Marketing Director, explained to Edmunds.

“Ferrari is such a loved marque that belongs to everybody, and everybody has a right to say something about it. Still, when you develop something new, the novelty scares everybody.”

Still, the company conceded the backlash was bigger than expected.

But now the dust has settled slightly, it’s time for another round of discussion, because the price has been revealed.

How much is the Ferrari Luce EV going to cost?

Initially, it was anticipated that the Luce would cost around $640,000.

But now a report from Car and Driver is indicating that it will cost $560,800 – a difference of around $80,000.

This would still make it the most expensive five-seater production car on the market, beating out the Rolls-Royce Cullinan by around $50,000.

It goes without saying that $560,800 is still a whole of cash, so it’s hardly like this car is being sold for pocket change.

It’s expected that the Ferrari Luce EV will reach the US market by the second quarter of 2027.

What did the internet have to say in response?

Across the internet, people had their say about the Luce’s price reveal.

“$500,000 for a car that looks like a Corolla,” one Reddit user remarked.

For some of its most ardent critics, it probably wouldn’t matter what the price was – they’ve decided they don’t want anything to do with it.

However, the Luce does have some famous fans.

When it was initially revealed, former Top Gear and Grand Tour host James May said he liked the design.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4, he said: “I like it. I think it’s interesting that Ferrari have done something very contemporary, very modern, which I think has been part of the definition of Ferrari’s styling.

“They’ve always been very much of their time, which is why their cars turn into the great classics that they do.”
