This Florida YouTuber was hit with the horrifying realization that his $41,000 auction purchase might not actually be Buzz Aldrin’s private jet, even though it was sold to him as such.

The Lear Jet that he’d bought was sold as having links to Buzz Aldrin and NASA, but after revealing the purchase, he started getting suspicious phone calls, emails and messages saying it might not be the jet it said it was.

The FAA records added even more mystery, with sometimes the jet being bought and sold for only a single dollar, which would be confusing as it is so famous.

Apparently the jet also had a link to the famous band Aerosmith and it seems to come with a history of unknown shell companies, dodgy purchasing transactions and most importantly, no NASA or Buzz Aldrin interaction at all.

There’s no worse feeling than knowing you could have been scammed, and that sinking feeling was one that hit this Florida YouTuber after he realized he spent $41,000 on a fake celebrity jet.

Jimmy, who runs a plane-based YouTube channel called Jimmy’s World purchased a Lear Jet for $41,000 after it was sold at auction as Buzz Aldrin’s private jet and he happily showed it off on YouTube.

However, after he announced the purchase, he started to receive some suspicious phone calls, emails and messages from people saying that the plane wasn’t the celebrity plane it purported to be.

A man who got in touch with Jimmy said that him and his dad used to have the plane and when they had it, it didn’t have the NASA or Buzz Aldrin branding added until after the 2000s, maybe around the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary.

After the suspicious contact from people, Jimmy decided to do some investigating of his own and get his hands on his new Lear Jet’s FAA records on a CD.

After looking into the plane’s backstory, it started to look more and more suspicious with the jet being registered in 1965, it had changed hands numerous times.

Most suspiciously, the plane had been bought and sold multiple times for only a single dollar, but paired with massive loans in the hundreds of thousands, it even apparently was owned by the band Aerosmith.

The tail number had been changed a lot too, a notable one was N119BA, which was assumed to stand for Buzz Aldrin, but actually stood for Beck Air.

In 2006, it was sold to a Canadian owner who Jimmy believes added the fake branding and started the rumor that it was Buzz Aldrin’s private jet, using a photo of it to advertise an airshow called Sun ‘n’ Fun.

The last recorded owner was the Royal Air Museum, which carried on the story of the jet once belonging to Buzz Aldrin.

The Florida YouTuber is going to continue searching for clues about the true backstory of his Lear jet, but it doesn’t look good to rely on a single photo and word-of-mouth, poor Jimmy.
