The Florida man who attempted to protect his new Chevrolet Corvette from Hurricane Milton last week by wrapping it in plastic has an update.

It was a unique protection plan.

He faced a serious amount of backlash at the time.

However, he has now shared what actually happened to his prized Chevrolet Corvette.

Chevrolet Corvette wrapped in plastic

Car owner and TkToker, gucci_lemon_reloaded, wrapped his Corvette in a plastic sheet to protect it from the Category 3 hurricane.

Located in Palm Beach, Florida, US, he was naturally worried about the hurricane damaging his Chevrolet Corvette.

His plan consisted of getting an industrial-grade sheet of plastic to use as a car wrap, covering the ground to reverse over it, and then covering the Chevrolet Corvette.

During hurricanes, only specialized vehicles like this tornado-proof tank are safe, and cars are rather fragile when it comes to situations like these.

Another man also shared a video showing his Tesla charging despite Hurricane Milton raging around it.

However, this low-mile Ford Thunderbird discovered among a collection hit by the Florida hurricane last month is proof cars and hurricanes aren’t a good combo.

Note that this TikTok video mentions Milton as a Category 5 hurricane — which it originally was thought to be — but thankfully, it lost some power and became a Category 3 after landfall.

However, it still had a terrible impact, with its path of destruction leaving millions without power and 16 people dead in its wake.

He shared an update on Friday to the video-sharing platform after the storm had passed which showed him removing the plastic wrapping from the Chevrolet Corvette.

The video, which has already amassed 700,000 views, was captioned: “Part three. Thank y’all for your support. More fun to come.”

Seems he proved his critics wrong by showing that his car was still in perfect condition and he can be seen at the end tearing down the road in the $68,000 car.

His apparent materialism as those less fortunate tried to flee and seek shelter led to many criticizing his actions.

However, he had explained that he was ‘nine miles from the water’ in the original video.

Didn’t expect my video to blow up. Storm should be hitting us Wed into Thurs. Stay tuned for part 3.

“It doesn’t really make sense for us to evacuate,” he said.

“So, in terms of floating away, I’m not really worried about that, it’s going to be in a garage with maybe two feet of water, max, cos we’re only dealing with rainwater, not really a storm surge.”

The criticism has continued afterwards, with many skeptical of how much he was actually affected by the storm in the first place.

One comment read: “What if he was never in the hurricane’s path and we all got click-baited?”

Another added: “It didn’t even look like it rained.”

Another user commented: “Are we sure this isn’t before the storm? Lol it’s still dry outside lol.”

All Supercar Blondie contributors undergo editorial review and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and authority in automotive journalism. After gaining her BA Hons in French and English at the University of Nottingham, Amelia embarked on a vocational diploma from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). This led to numerous opportunities, from interning at Vogue to being on the small team that launched Women’s Health magazine in the UK, which was named the PPA Consumer magazine of the year for three years running. As Health, Beauty and Fitness editor, Amelia personally received a Johnson & Johnson Award and was shortlisted for both PPA and BSME titles. Since then, Amelia has created content for numerous titles and brands, including the Telegraph, 111 Skin, Waitrose, Red magazine, Stylist, and Elle, as well as being Head of Content at Vitality and Editor in Chief at INLondon magazine. “My superpower is translating technical jargon about the mechanical workings of a supercar into a relatable story you’ll want to share with your friends after you’ve read it.” After joining the SB Media family as a senior journalist in September of 2023, Amelia’s role has evolved to see her heading up the SEO output of the editorial team. From researching the most ‘Google-able’ key terms to producing evergreen content - it’s been a time of hard work, growth, and success for the editorial team and the Supercar Blondie website. “I like to think of myself as a ‘method journalist’. In other words: I live and breathe whatever I am writing about. When writing about fitness, I trained as a personal trainer, and as a beauty editor, I completed an ‘expert’ in scent diploma with the Fragrance Foundation. “During my tenure at Supercar Blondie, however, I did something I never thought possible: I passed my driving test at the age of 36. One day I’d love to train as a mechanic to better understand what happens under the hood, too. “My sweet spot is providing readers with a ‘takeaway’ (read: something new they didn’t know before) after reading every one of my stories. While I don’t claim to be an expert in the automotive world, I know the experts and bodies in the field to rely on to provide our readers with an informative and thought-provoking story every time they visit the site.”
