Although the muscle car era may be behind us, you can still find fans almost everywhere in America – and this man from Florida who owned ‘Muscle Car City’ is basically a legend.
This is the story of Rick Treworgy, the previous owner of a humongous muscle car collection that was turned into a museum.
We say ‘previous’ because most cars in the museum were auctioned off in 2021 when the owner decided to shut it all down.
However, it still remains a collection for the history books, simply because of how iconic it was.

Muscle Car City in Florida
The most unique feature of this collection was that it contained exclusively GM cars.
You read that right — over 200 General Motors muscle cars.
While GM’s brands never produced these many collectible models, many of them were duplicates — but for good reason.
A YouTube channel called CarCrazyCentral posted a tour of his collection that once sat in Punta Gordo, Florida.
The footage showed the host and Treworgy walking around and him trying to justify why he had 80 Corvettes.
Read that again – 80 Corvettes.
Treworgy bought dozens of the same cars from different years, but mind you — these weren’t just any models.
He only got those that were best of the bunch and came with a ‘collectible’ allure.
Muscle Car City only had cars that Treworgy thought offered the ultimate performance.
The engines and sound were his primary purchase factor, and that’s perfectly fine.
One car collection to beat them all
The collection featured iconic names like the 1965 Pontiac GTO, several Oldsmobile 442 models, and an entire mini-collection of Chevys.
From Impalas and Camaros to Corvettes, he practically owned every popular model.
Regular engine, a Super Sport (SS) package, or a custom — he had them all.
A few Chevy models may pop up in a barn find here and there, but getting one in pristine condition remains a challenge.
Those who participated in Treworgy’s auction were definitely in luck.
It was like a Walmart for American muscle.
Here’s a fun fact — Muscle Car City was actually a Walmart building before it was a museum and hangout spot for car guys.
It’s almost as if it was meant to be.
As remarkable as this collection was, Treworgy shut the museum down in 2021 and unfortunately passed away only last year.
He left behind a legacy though, and muscle car enthusiasts will always remember him.
