In the eyes of millions, the Ford Model T might be the most important car ever made.
The legendary car was the first ever mass-produced vehicle and changed the world forever.
One thing that people might not know is that the Model T was also used for off-roading.
And, despite the rugged, rural terrain, it was actually quite good at it, too.

Ford Model T: The most iconic vehicle ever built
The Model T changed the world for quite a few reasons.
In June of 1903, Henry Ford helped establish the Ford Motor Company.
The now iconic Blue Oval brand was established with one goal, and only one goal in mind.
To produce a reliable, affordable vehicle for America’s masses.
So that’s exactly what Henry Ford and the company did.

In 1908, the first Model T rolled off the Ford production line in Detroit, Michigan.
By May 1927, Henry Ford watched the 15 millionth Model T head out of the factory.
Now, as we mentioned, the Model T completely changed the game for a number of reasons.
For one thing, unlike other cars of the era, the Model T was very reliable and simple to fix.
In 1910, the maker introduced assembly line production, allowing him to produce cars quickly.
This method also allowed him to produce cars much cheaper, which in turn, lowered the cost of buying.
At its production peak, half of all cars in America were a Ford Model T.

When people think of the United States, they often think of the glitz and glamour of the city.
What they often forget is how rural and rugged the United States can often be, too.
A big part of the Model Ts rise was its ability to change the lives of people in the countryside.
For farmers and country people, the automaker made America far more accessible and open.
Before the highway system was introduced after World War II, America’s roads were…barely roads.
In fact, they were mostly rough-and-tumble dirt tracks that existed for horses.
Thankfully, the Model T was incredibly tough and durable.
Many collectors and fans today revel in replicating the challenge.
In fact, many people like to prove themselves by taking a Model T to places they can’t take a modern SUV.
So, if you fancy the true off-road experience, borrow a Model T.
