Ford used video game-style telemetry to show how its Mustang GTD supercar shaved five seconds off its previous lap time around the Nürburgring.
The Blue Oval recently sent the Mustang supercar to the famous German circuit to see exactly how fast it could go.
The GTD became the first American production car to break the seven-minute barrier and proved as fast as the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar.
Following that run, the GTD returned to the circuit, and Ford was able to shave an incredible five seconds off its lap time, utilizing some interesting technology.

The onboard footage of the original lap was very impressive, with driver Dirk Müller behind the wheel for both laps.
The original lap was a spectacle in itself, with the GTD setting a time of 6 minutes and 57.685 seconds.
However, the Blue Oval was adamant that more performance could be extracted from its fearsome supercar.
So Ford sent Müller back out again, and he took an incredible five seconds off his original lap time.

That meant the new record for an American production car around the Nürburgring currently stands at 6mins 52.072 secs.
To highlight just how fast the Mustang GTD has gone, Ford produced a special video of the two laps.
The video had both onboards on show, plus a ghost car overlay on the original footage to showcase the improvement.
A ghost car is often seen in racing games.
It shows a ghostly version of your car driving your previous fastest lap as you try to go faster.
Not only are they fun, but they’re also useful to show where you have gone quicker versus the earlier lap.
Watching the ghost car pull ahead of the original lap, it’s clear to see where the Mustang made up so much time on its second attempt around the German circuit.
The Mustang GTD has a massive supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine under the hood, making 800HP.
So it’s no surprise the car is so quick.
To set two lap records at the Nürburgring and shave so much time off the first one is truly impressive.
Ford should be applauded for building such an amazing supercar.
