Formula 1 fans everywhere – the legendary Monaco Grand Prix is officially here to stay!

Rumors have grown over the past few months that the iconic street track might finally be on its way out.

Indeed, Formula 1 has grown a focus on hosting races at different tracks than the traditional highlights.

Thankfully, the Monaco Grand Prix will not fall victim, with official confirmation of its running until 2035.

Formula 1 confirms that Monaco Grand Prix will go on

Ladies and gentlemen, it is official – the Monaco Grand Prix is here to stay.

The annual race in the Principality has been at the center of heavy rumors over the past few months.

Well, it’s good news – because those rumors have proven to be false.

Earlier today, Formula 1 announced that it has reached an extension agreement.

It announced an agreement with the Automobile Club of Monaco to extend the Grand Prix until at least 2035.

Monte Carlo’s tight, twisty street circuit presents an incredibly unique challenge for Formula 1 drivers.

It demands maximum concentration and attention, while being set against one of the most glamorous backdrops in the world.

F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali was delighted with the news.

“The streets of Monaco have been echoing with the sound of Formula 1 since the earliest days of the sport, so I’m delighted to announce the extension of this fantastic event to 2035,” Domenicali said.

“It is an iconic race that is loved by all drivers and fans, with a unique vibe thanks to its location on the world’s most glamorous Principality.”

His Serene Highness, Prince Albert II of Monaco, was equally thrilled with the extension.

“The renewal of the Monaco Grand Prix until 2035 is in keeping with a sporting and historical tradition to which the Principality remains deeply attached.”

“I can only welcome this renewed commitment, which is testament to our collective success, the excellence of our collaboration with Formula 1, and the unique place that Monaco occupies in the international motorsport landscape.”

The most iconic race in motorsport? Maybe

The Monaco Grand Prix is arguably the single most iconic race in the Formula 1 calendar.

It has featured on the World Championship calendar since the first-ever season in 1950.

The Principality has played host to some of the sport’s most legendary moments ever.

Back in 1988, the iconic Ayrton Senna was battling hard with McLaren teammate Alain Prost.

Both were pushing the McLaren MP4/4 to its absolute limits.

After heading out for qualifying on Saturday, Ayrton Senna would make history.

The Brazilian put together one of the single greatest laps in the history of motorsport.

His qualifying lap placed him a scarcely-believable 1.427 seconds ahead of Prost.

And that is just one of many iconic moments to which the Monaco Grand Prix has played host.

Last year, Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc made history as the first Monegasque to win the race.

Formula 1 fans – are you happy with the news that the Monaco Grand Prix will continue?
