Porsche Design has turned the exhaust tailpipe from a 911 into a soundbar.

And an expensive one at that: it costs basically the same as a small city car.

The idea was masterminded by Porsche Design – the division that specializes in gadgets and accessories.

Officially known as the ‘911 Soundbar 2.0 Pro’, the massive soundbar was built using the exhaust system from a current-gen Porsche 911 992.

But don’t let the striking design fool you into thinking this is just a design object.

Because the 911 soundbar comes in with some pretty spectacular technical features.

For starters, it has 300 watts of power.

For reference, that’s about twice as powerful as the television set you’d find in most households.

In addition to that, it has 4K-compatible HDMI ports, Bluetooth 5.0 and Dolby Atmos DTS-HD sound quality.

It is also supports both Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2.

There are a couple of things to bear in mind, though.

First of all, it is quite heavy as it weighs 65 kg (143 lbs).

Secondly, you have to hurry up if you want one because Porsche Design says production is limited to 500 pieces

That probably helps explain the eye-watering price tag because the 911 Soundbar costs $12,000.
