In 1984, a German reporter called Ulrich Wickert casually crossed the incredibly busy Place de la Concorde in Paris, France, on camera, in one take.
The trick, according to the German correspondent, was to keep a ‘steady pace’ and ‘never look at the drivers’.
Why? Because apparently eye contact will make them think you’ll stop for them when, clearly, you aren’t going to.
