Many car connoisseurs would love to have a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air in their possession – but this one is struggling to sell.

Despite going online earlier this year, it has still failed to find a forever home.

There are a few reasons behind why this might be.

A brief history of the Bel Air

Before we get into the issues with this particular car, let’s have a quick look at the history of the Bel Air.

In the 1950’s, it dominated the car market until the Impala came along in 1959.

With the Impala becoming the best-selling car of 1959 in the United States, it was clear that the Bel Air had been upstaged.

This rivalry carries over into the present day to a certain degree.

The owner trying to sell off this Bel Air even commented: “It is a shame this is not an Impala.”

Even in a dormative state, Impalas can be real treats.

One man got his hands on an Impala that hadn’t been driven for 50 years and found a ton of hidden treasures inside.

But surely that’s not the reason why it’s struggling to get snatched up, so what’s going on?

Why this Bel Air hasn’t sold yet

For a start, the car isn’t a 100% original, as the engine is a 327 V8.

The V8 wasn’t in existence when the car was first launched in 1958, so the original car would have run off a 348 cubic-inch unit.

With the car not being all-original, it’s probably been deemed too costly as a result.

It is currently going for $37,500, which is a solid price considering it still has air conditioning and all its doors attached.

For the time being, the car remains in Gray Court, South Carolina.

If you pay the full price for it, you’ll get to drive it home yourself.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in checking out, head on over to its eBay page.
