Hennessey’s Dodge Demon 1700 with a twin-turbo Hemi has delivered over 1,700 horsepower on the engine dyno.

The car is built by Hennessey Special Operations as a limited-run, high-performance version of the Dodge Demon 170.

It replaces the stock supercharger with twin turbochargers and increases displacement to 7.2 liters.

The result is one of the most powerful production-based muscle cars ever created.

Hennessey’s Dodge Demon pushes the limits of the twin-turbo Hemi

This project began with the already potent 1,025 horsepower Dodge Demon 170.

Once in Hennessey’s hands, the car underwent a full teardown to prepare for the twin-turbo Hemi conversion.

The new engine configuration was tested on an engine dyno and produced over 1,700 horsepower at the crank.

According to Hennessey, the build includes forged pistons, upgraded rods, and reinforced valvetrain components.

Cooling and fueling systems were re-engineered to ensure the car could sustain output at high loads.

The engine dyno test not only validated the build, it demonstrated how refined the power delivery was across the rev range.

Turbo response has been carefully tuned, and the supporting software ensures smooth drivability despite the extreme figures.

Even with all the performance upgrades, the car retains full street legality and is being built for a small group of clients.

Each example is customized to order and hand-assembled by Hennessey technicians in Texas.

The car retains a recognizable silhouette but hides a completely transformed powertrain underneath.

Future direction for custom muscle cars

Hennessey’s engine dyno results highlight a shift in how performance tuning is evolving as production V8s become less common.

With the Dodge Demon 170 now out of production, builds like this one extend the model’s legacy for years to come.

Rather than focusing only on peak numbers, the twin-turbo Hemi setup emphasizes balanced engineering and repeatable results.

The project proves that combustion-powered muscle still has untapped potential in the hands of skilled builders.

It also reinforces Hennessey’s place among the few tuning companies still pushing the limits of street-legal horsepower.

This version of Hennessey’s Dodge Demon marks the final evolution of one of Dodge’s boldest performance nameplates.

Built for the most demanding clients, it offers more than just straight-line speed.

It serves as a closing chapter to the internal combustion muscle era, and a reminder of what’s still possible with the right tools and vision.
