Hertz rental cars are now being sold as used cars through Amazon Autos, marking a new step for the online marketplace.

The rollout has begun in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle, where eligible buyers can complete purchases online.

Once confirmed, vehicles can be collected at local Hertz Car Sales centers within three days.

With dozens more cities set to join, the partnership signals a wider shift in how used cars reach buyers.

Hertz rental cars hit Amazon Autos

Amazon launched Amazon Autos in 2024 with Hyundai as its first partner for new and certified pre-owned vehicles.

The addition of Hertz rental cars expands the platform into rental fleet vehicles, opening access to a broader range of used cars.

Models from Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Nissan are included.

Hertz says the cars are drawn directly from its rental fleet and come with full service records.

Purchases are completed online through Amazon Autos, with buyers collecting their vehicles at a Hertz Car Sales center within three days.

The system combines online transactions with in-person collection, linking Amazon’s digital storefront with Hertz’s physical locations.

The company plans to grow the program from the initial four cities to 45 locations nationwide.

That scale will bring Hertz rental cars to a much wider audience and make Amazon Autos a stronger competitor in the used cars market.

Used cars move further online

Adding Hertz rental cars gives Amazon Autos a wider role in used car sales.

The platform previously offered only Hyundai vehicles, but Hertz brings a varied inventory across several major manufacturers.

Analysts suggest this expansion could lead to more partnerships between Amazon and other fleet operators.

For Hertz, the arrangement provides a direct outlet for vehicles leaving its fleet.

Listing them as used cars on Amazon Autos allows sales to reach customers more quickly and reduces reliance on traditional wholesale channels.

Industry analysts also point to growing acceptance of digital car sales.

More buyers are willing to complete purchases online when vehicles come with service records and consistent maintenance.

Hertz rental cars on Amazon Autos may set a template for how more fleet and automotive companies adapt to online markets.

The program shows two established companies adapting to the same trend: customers increasingly expect used cars to be available through the same online platforms they already use for other purchases.

Expansion is already planned, and Hertz rental cars are expected to appear on Amazon Autos across the United States in the coming months.
