Highest mileage Toyota Prius left car dealership in shock

The Toyota Prius is renowned for its speed but the one with the highest mileage left one US-based dealer in disbelief.

In South Carolina, a dealer at Southern Motor Company came across a 2017 Prius Hybird.

Its owner had driven it onto the lot hoping to sell it – but it had a surprise in store.

The astonishing mileage of this Toyota

Randy Kennedy, the manager at the dealership, recalled the moment the car rolled onto the lot in 2022.

He said: “When the owner saw this car come up, he thought the mileage was a typo.

“Then he saw how clean it was, he was like, ‘I don’t care if we make a dollar on this. We can use it as a runner or sell it. It’s too fun not to buy.'”

This Prius had clocked up 546,896 miles (just over 880,000 kilometers), an astonishingly high figure for any car.

Prius are a popular choice when it comes to taxi driving, which may explain why the figure had skyrocketed.

But still, the average Prius of the era would rack up just over 100,000 miles, so this is still exceptional.

A closer look at the 2017 Toyota Prius

The 2017 model is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, capable of 95hp and a torque of 105lb-ft.

How did this car manage to make it to half a million miles?

The 2017 Prius offered up to 56 combined miles per gallon, which might help explain how it got 500,000 miles in five years.

Despite its exceptional condition, the Prius in question went for a very modest price of $10,989.

Nobody knows what mileage it will reach from here.

Of course, as impressive as half a million miles is, it pales in comparison to some other cars.
