An auto shop in Indianapolis has revealed the dangers of skipping your car’s maintenance plan.
If your car is running well and you haven’t noticed any weird knocking or strange engine sounds, it can be tempting to skip scheduled maintenance appointments.
However, ignoring your car’s maintenance plan can have some pretty serious consequences.
And one expert has revealed just exactly how bad things can get.

Skipping your car’s maintenance plan can lead to big problems
Buying a car is just the first step in a long line of costs you’ll incur as a motorist.
Alongside insurance and fuel, you’ll also need to make sure it gets regular services to keep it in tip-top condition.
And while it can be tempting to ignore the plan, especially if you have a new vehicle, one mechanic has warned against it.
In a post on the Northeast Auto Service website, the expert explained the importance of sticking to the maintenance schedule.
They highlighted data from AAA, which found that car owners who regularly skip routine maintenance were much more likely to be whacked with repairs costing $500 or more.
The auto worker then broke down exactly what not keeping up to date with routine can do – and it’s a pretty scary list.
A common issue stemming from ditching an oil change is engine damage that can make your car more sluggish, reduce its fuel efficiency, and even end in complete engine failure, which can cost thousands of dollars to repair.
Similarly, ignoring your scheduled brake pad replacement could land you with a much more costly brake pad system overhaul that might set you back around $600.
Having brakes that have worn down can also put you at more risk of an accident.
And the problems don’t stop there
The expert also warned about potential cooling system problems, which can include cracked engine blocks or cylinder heads, all of which will cost you a lot more than a planned service would cost.
And, if all of those aren’t enough to make you stick diligently to your car’s maintenance plan, then there’s more.
Without a regular service, your car’s tires won’t last as long, meaning you’re more at risk of a potentially dangerous blowout – and you’ll also get less fuel efficiency.
