DeLorean DMC-12s are loved by every car and film fanatic across the globe – but they’re becoming almost impossible to build.

The DeLorean time machine shot to fame in the cult classic Back To The Future movies taking Marty McFly and Doc Brown through history.

They are, however, becoming increasingly difficult to build, for a variety of reasons.

Let’s find out what they are, shall we?

The DeLorean DMC-12, love it or hate it, always seems to be in high demand.

The iconic car from the Back To The Future films is constantly hitting the headlines across the globe.

Take this joker for instance, he managed to trick Canadian cops with a fake DeLorean made entirely out of snow.

But the cops ended up getting the last laugh by dishing out a parking ticket.

This fan of the beloved movies also has a replica of the time-machine that a cop was fascinated by.

But even though film fans are dying to get their hands on the unique ride – it’s actually almost impossible to build a DeLorean time machine anymore.

Here’s why.

Costs and demand are on a steep rise up.

In this video, one car fanatic explored just why the DeLorean time machines are getting harder to build and find.

While they chatted to time machine maker Videobob Moseley the cause of became very clear.

He’s made 50 of these things and is seeing an increase in demand.

As a result, the price of DeLoreans has risen by thousands over the years.

What used to be a $15,000 snap up has become a $75,000 investment, proving that the tables have truly turned.

That’s not all either – it’s hard to build them accurately, too.

It’s all thanks to ‘Gen X nerds’ who can afford them and are, in fact, fighting over them, according to Bob.

Movie ready – the DeLorean replicas are impressive.

Even though the DeLorean’s Bob builds aren’t button for button exactly accurate, they’re still remarkably good replicas.

Bob and his team sell them at about $150,000 – proving being a film fanatic isn’t the cheapest hobby eh?

He even had some help and insight from none other than Kevin Pike, the maker of the very machine from the movie itself.

But, if you’re a Back To The Future fan you better wish upon a star if you fancy snapping up one of these bad boys.

You can see all the details as well as have a nose round the time machine below.
