John Travolta has just added something new to his résumé at 72.

The actor says he’s earned his Bombardier Global Express SIC license.

It’s a certification tied to one of the most capable business jets in the sky.

And he chose his birthday to share the milestone.

John Travolta earns Bombardier Global Express SIC license at 72

In a short clip posted to Travolta’s Instagram, the Bombardier Global Express is seen taxiing before lifting off the runway.

The video then cuts to him standing in front of the aircraft, explaining he ‘just accomplished [his] license in the Global Express SIC.’

“Congratulations to me.”

SIC stands for Second-in-Command, meaning Travolta is now certified to operate the aircraft in the co-pilot seat.

It’s not a symbolic achievement, either.

The Global Express is a serious piece of machinery, and earning a rating for it requires dedicated training and qualification.

However he chooses to celebrate, adding a new aircraft to his pilot credentials at 72 is a pretty strong way to mark the occasion.

What makes this such a major jet

The Bombardier Global Express is a large-cabin, ultra-long-range business jet built for intercontinental travel.

It typically carries between 13 and 16 passengers inside a fully pressurized cabin designed for long-haul comfort.

With a range capable of routes like Sydney to Los Angeles or London, the aircraft can remain airborne for around 14 hours, cruising at high speed and high altitude thanks to its twin-engine setup.

Inside, the jet is built around comfort and endurance.

Customizable seating layouts often include lie-flat beds, a full galley, advanced noise-reduction technology, and modern avionics.

In-flight WiFi and satellite phone capability are part of the package, too.

There are even variants like the Global Express XRS, which offer improved efficiency and performance.

In other words, this isn’t a light private jet you take up for a quick spin.

So if you’re going to celebrate a birthday with a new license, doing it in something designed to cross oceans nonstop feels about right.
