After watching the trailer, we can’t help but feel this may be the beginning of a brand new direction for the franchise.

The trailer opens to a radio show host dedicating a song to John Wick.

Yep, we’re not sure why either.

A few seconds later, we’re transported to Paris, which is one of the five locations featured in the movie.

The other four being New York City, Berlin, Osaka and a desert in an unspecified country.

In the trailer, we also get acquainted with the main antagonist of the movie, a mysterious man named Marquis.

Portrayed by Bill Skarsgård, he is the head of The High Table, a council that controls the world’s most powerful criminal organizations.

We also see more fight scenes between John Wick and Caine, a blind assassin that’s also Marquis’ right-hand man.

So what is John Wick 4 all about?

John Wick was forced to come back from ‘retirement’ and rejoin The High Table after the events of the first movie.

Now he wants out but he realized he can only do that by taking down the whole organization.

Even though it feels like a finale based on the trailer and the plot, it probably won’t be.

Both Keanu Reeves and Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed a fifth film was already being developed.

That being said, the franchise will probably expand in different directions after this movie, moving past the whole High Table thing.

Speaking of which, Lionsgate is already working on a spin-off film titled Ballerina.

It stars Ana de Armas as Rooney, a ballerina-turned-assassin who wants to avenge the death of her family.

Reeves and Ian McShane will reprise their respective roles as John Wick and Winston Scott in the film, which should be released next year.

John Wick: Chapter 4 will hit theaters on March 24.
