Koenigsegg has taken one of its old hypercars and rebuilt it from the inside out, giving a Koenigsegg Agera R new life through factory-led hypercar upgrades.

The project was handled by Koenigsegg Legends, a department dedicated to working on earlier models.

This specific build was commissioned by Supervettura, the brand’s official UK dealer.

It now carries a mix of updated components and styling choices that set it apart from its original spec.

Subtle Changes make for a big impact

The original Koenigsegg Agera R launched over ten years ago and played a key role in the brand’s early rise.

It featured a twin-turbocharged V8, carbon construction, and performance figures that placed it alongside the most competitive hypercars of its time.

This reworked example keeps the same platform but with mechanical tweaks confirmed by Christian von Koenigsegg to increase its output.

No official performance numbers have been provided.

Visual changes include a new green paint finish, red pinstriping, and exposed carbon elements.

Koenigsegg has also applied its Diamond-Like Coating to protect the surface and add depth to the materials.

These modifications give the car a more defined appearance while staying true to its Koenigsegg Agera roots.

Inside, the layout has been overhauled. The instrument cluster now uses analog-style circular gauges, laid out in a custom configuration based on the CC850.

The gauges sit under a small sunshade that frames the updated design.

The seats are borrowed from the Koenigsegg One:1 and paired with harness belts, giving the cabin a more focused, track-ready setup.

These changes reflect the type of hypercar upgrades Koenigsegg is now offering to owners of its old hypercars.

Why Koenigsegg is betting on old hypercars

Koenigsegg Legends previously revealed the Chimera, a custom build that used the body of an Agera RS, the engine from the Jesko, and the manual gearbox from the CC850.

That project showed how far the company could go with blending components.

This Agera R build takes a different approach, focusing on refinement instead of reengineering.

Other carmakers have launched similar programs to maintain support for earlier models.

Pagani continues to produce updated Zondas on request, and Porsche enthusiasts have long turned to companies like Singer for bespoke restorations.

What sets Koenigsegg apart is that these hypercar upgrades are carried out entirely within the factory, using the same engineers and processes applied to new vehicles.

The Koenigsegg Agera remains a key part of the company’s legacy.

By updating old hypercars like this one, Koenigsegg is keeping them relevant in a market that increasingly values exclusivity and originality.

The decision to formalise these efforts under Koenigsegg Legends indicates a broader strategy.

These builds offer owners of older models a factory-approved path to personalisation, and for Koenigsegg, they keep the past actively connected to the brand’s future.
