The $5,200,000 Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear has become the fastest production car to ever lap Laguna Seca.

Sadair’s Spear is the latest weapon from the arsenal of the Swedish hypercar brand.

It is a track-focused monster that exists to smash every record in sight.

And it did just that at Laguna Seca, with an absolutely astonishing time.

Koenigsegg’s team smashes Laguna Seca lap record

Breaking lap and speed records isn’t exactly a new thing for Koenigsegg.

The hypercar brand prides itself on owning any and every speed record there is to have.

And the marque has just claimed another – this time, in California.

That’s according to brand founder Christian von Koenigsegg, who was in Las Vegas last week.

The Swedish CEO was attending an event at the Concourse at Wynn Las Vegas.

Given that he was already on the West Coast, he decided to bring his ultimate artillery piece to the track.

And that piece, of course, is the one-and-only Sadair’s Spear.

A couple of days ago, the Koenigsegg team took the Sadair’s Spear to a truly incredible track.

And that track, of course, is the one-of-a-kind Laguna Seca.

The Swedish brand released a video of test driver Markus Lundh piloting the hypercar.

And the video shows Lundh absolutely obliterating the Laguna Seca lap record.

In fact, the Sadair’s Spear manages to lap the track in just 1’24.16s.

That officially makes Koenigsegg’s track weapon the fastest car to ever lap Laguna Seca.

Sadair’s Spear is the pinnacle of performance

And there’s one other detail that makes this achievement even more impressive.

The only slot that the brand could secure was a track-day slot with a 90dB sound limit.

To comply, the team quickly fabricated an extra muffler to keep the car legal.

Speaking of the Sadair’s Spear – what is the story behind the car?

The Sadair’s Spear serves as the brand’s successor to the Jesko Absolut.

It packs Koenigsegg’s twin-turbocharged, 5.0-liter V8 hybrid powerplant.

Oh – and it produces 1,625hp when using E85 fuel.

The hypercar also weighs 35kg less than the standard Jesko.

It is also an extremely limited-edition hypercar – just 30 units will ever be produced.

The Sadair’s Spear features a bespoke aero package which includes wheel-arch covers, as well as an active double-blade rear wing.

Smashing the lap record at Laguna Seca is one of the most impressive achievements we have seen.

That is, at least, until the next one that Koenigsegg’s team decides to aim for.
