The Kosmera Star Matrix hypercar is back in the spotlight.

This time, however, the futuristic prototype showed up wearing a brand-new color.

The reveal happened at AWE Shanghai 2026, one of Asia’s biggest consumer tech expos.

And although the fresh look grabbed attention, it was the car’s AI “race engineer” that really got people talking.

The AI race engineer that could change how people drive hypercars

Kosmera originally introduced the Star Matrix earlier this year at CES.

But its appearance at AWE Shanghai gave audiences another look at the brand’s bold idea for the future of performance driving.

At the center of the concept is something the company calls AI Coach + AR Assistance.

An intelligent system designed to act like a real-time driving companion rather than a traditional driver-assistance feature.

Instead of quietly running in the background, the system constantly analyzes things like vehicle dynamics, road conditions, environmental factors, and even the driver’s behavior.

It then turns that data into clear guidance that appears directly in the driver’s field of view using augmented reality overlays.

In performance situations, the system can generate ideal racing lines, braking points, and cornering cues based on real-time conditions and the car’s capabilities.

The goal is to make high-performance driving easier to understand while helping drivers deliver more consistent lap times.

Kosmera says the technology isn’t meant to replace the person behind the wheel.

Rather, the idea is to combine human instinct with machine intelligence so the driver still makes the decisions while the system helps interpret the information.

Kosmera believes AI will be the foundation of future performance cars

While the racing-style guidance may grab headlines, the same system is designed to help in everyday driving as well.

The AR assistance platform can highlight blind-spot awareness, monitor fatigue, warn about potential hazards, and display navigation and safety information in a way that’s easier for the driver to process.

According to Kosmera, the bigger vision is about making AI part of the car’s core architecture rather than simply adding another feature to a dashboard screen.

CEO Winter Chen explained that high-level driving has always depended on skill, instinct, and courage.

With AI Coach and AR assistance, the company hopes to build a system that understands both the machine and the human behind it.

Star Matrix remains a prototype for now.

Still, judging by the reaction to its latest appearance in Shanghai, the idea of a hypercar with its own AI race engineer already has plenty of people intrigued.
