Have you ever seen a super expensive car roll past and instantly formed an opinion about who might be inside?

Most people do it without even realizing.

Status, money, and personality all get filled in before the car even comes to a stop.

That assumption is what led one Lamborghini owner to ask other supercar owners whether they’d noticed people treating them differently after buying the car.

What Lamborghini owners noticed after buying the car

The question came from a first-time Lamborghini owner in Australia who said she began noticing a shift in how people interacted with her just a few months into ownership.

So she asked Reddit if others felt the same change.

The replies came quickly, and many owners backed up her sentiment.

And there was one common theme among them.

Everyday moments like filling up at a petrol station suddenly brought lots of questions and stares.

Owners said it felt friendly at first, but got exhausting over time.

Some admitted there were moments when it was fun.

Pulling up somewhere social in a Huracán could feel cool in the right setting.

But several said that novelty wore off fast, especially when the attention became constant and you were just trying to run errands.

A rare point of universal agreement was kids.

Owners repeatedly said kids’ reactions were the best part of owning a Lamborghini

Seeing them smile, wave, or lose their minds makes the awkward moments easier to brush off, they said.

The shift also spilled over into personal relationships.

Some owners said friends began expecting them to pay when going out.

Others noticed coworkers acting colder or more judgmental.

A few said the contrast was obvious when switching back to an old daily driver, where the attention instantly disappeared.

Why owners say location changes everything

According to the Reddit thread, where owners live plays a major role in how those reactions land.

Australian commenters frequently mentioned tall poppy syndrome, saying standing out financially can attract judgment rather than admiration.

Several noted that while BMWs or Mercedes barely register, a Lamborghini feels like crossing an invisible social line.

By comparison, owners in Dubai said Lamborghinis barely get noticed.

In New York, reactions were described as limited to the occasional comment at a gas station before people moved on.

Overall, the thread highlighted the fact that owning a supercar often came with an adjustment period.

The weeks after purchase bring a sense of sudden celebrity that takes time to grow accustomed to.

Turns out, buying a Lamborghini doesn’t just change what you drive.

It changes how people decide who you are.
