A Las Vegas passenger just shared his full ride inside an Amazon-owned Zoox robotaxi, and it’s like stepping into a sci-fi movie set.
Sliding bus-style doors, an aqua-grey cabin, and a ‘press to start ride’ touch screen – it’s all very Jetsons, until you instinctively greet the driver.
Except… there isn’t one.
Just a polite automated voice telling you when you’ve arrived.

Inside the Zoox robotaxi
Zoox robotaxis are continuing their plight to become the next big thing.
Following on from the time our very own Alex Hirschi – AKA Supercar Blondie – took a ride in one of the square-shaped future-mobiles, one Reddit user has taken viewers behind the scenes once again.
The clip starts with the driverless vehicle pulling up to the curb.
The passenger taps the start button on a mounted touchscreen and the Zoox quietly rolls away.
Halfway through, the passenger laughs: “I actually started saying ‘hey, how’s your day going?’ to the driver.”
Proof that years of taxi etiquette are hard to shake, even when you’re talking to an empty void.
When the journey ends, the Zoox’s voice calmly announces: “We’ve arrived. Please watch for traffic as you leave.”
Another tap of the screen and the sliding doors open. No small talk, no awkward tip moment – just get out and go.
The future of Zoox
The Reddit thread lit up with reactions.
“I love how futuristic these things look,” one user wrote.
A Las Vegas local claimed they’ve been driving around Zoox vehicles for three years without incident, comparing them to ‘a cautious but predictable old person who follows all of the traffic rules’.
It’s hard to ignore the appeal – a self-driving pod that feels like public transport met a living room.
For now, Zoox is still a novelty in Vegas. But if the hype holds, one day talking to an empty driver’s seat might be just another part of the commute.
