Ferrari Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton loves to put on a show in Japan by turning up in a rare supercar, and this year looks to have been no different.
In 2022, Hamilton posted a video on his socials of him drifting a Nissan GT-R Skyline, which gained huge amounts of views, even if it did land him in a spot of bother.
Ahead of the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix, Hamilton turned up to a car meet in one of the rarest Ferraris on the planet.
With a value of up to $4 million, it’s no wonder this was such a spectacle.

This is the Ferrari Lewis Hamilton turned up in
The car meet took place at the Daikoku Parking Area of Yokohama.
Taking place on Tuesday night of Japanese Grand Prix race week, Hamilton turned up in one of Ferrari’s best supercars.
Of course, this was a Ferrari F40, the last car officially approved by Enzo Ferrari before his death.

Hamilton has always loved Ferraris, even before he joined the F1 team in 2025.
So it made perfect sense for him to turn up in such a legendary car.
Even cooler was the meaning behind the license plate that referenced ‘F40′ and ’77’.
The ‘F40’ is a reference to the supercar celebrating Ferrari’s 40th anniversary.
There is every chance the F40 he showed up in was the most expensive car at the meeting.
The F40 is worth up to $4 million, and a 1990 model once owned by Alain Prost sold for $3.89 million at auction.
However, the most expensive was a 1993 F40 LM by Michelotto.
The one-of-19 sold in August 2025 for a massive $11 million.
Hamilton loves making a show in Japan
Back to Lewis Hamilton, and the F1 superstar loves to make a show in Japan.
We touched upon it, but in 2022, he drove a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.
Posted on his Instagram, Hamilton was seen conducting his own ‘Tokyo Drift’ style action in the sports car.
It went viral pretty quickly, and car lovers all over the world loved it.

However, it also landed Hamilton in hot water.
It transpired that the rental company he had hired the Nissan from wasn’t thrilled with his vigorous driving.
Thankfully, nothing else came of it, and Hamilton still clearly enjoys absorbing Japanese car culture.
